NURBN3034 Diverse Populations & Nursing Assessment
High-income countries are currently experiencing a growing diversity of cultures, which could present challenges to nursing practice. We conducted an integrated review of all the published literature between North America and Europe between 1990 and 2007, in order to identify the current state of knowledge and identify assessment of nursing instruments and models that offer an empirical or research view in relation to the cultural aspects of nursing care.

Diverse Populations & Nursing Assessment
A
research group was established in 2008, responding to a demand from an
additional healthcare facility to develop a sensitive assessment tool that can
be used to improve nursing assessments of patients. Healthcare facilities don't collect data on ethnicity at
the time of admission. Therefore requests for translations are frequently
utilized as a proxy to determine the extent of ethnic diversity in the healthcare facility. The healthcare
facility which analyzed the necessity for this review proved that over the past
five years their daily log sheet revealed an average of 20 requests each day
for interpretation services that covered up to 10 languages. With the globalization of our population, there is a good chance that this situation is not uncommon.
A nursing
practice plan:
- In
the format of the report
- Select
a population that is diverse and examine the determinants of health,
health inequalities health inequities, and outcomes
- Make
use of at minimum 3 Registered Nurse Standards to discuss the aspects of
care that are essential when treating someone in the population you choose
- At
least, you should use at least 15-20 reliable peer-reviewed sources, not
older than 7 years in APA7 style.
This
assessment page assumes that you have read the outline of the course as well as
the assessment description and rubric that is available in Model.
Healthcare
disparities that are prevalent and harmful expose vulnerable and marginalized
populations to the risk of negative health results, especially those living in
homes. In the report Future of
Nursing, 2020-2030 the primary goal of nursing in the next decade is to combat
and reduce health inequities. Offering
quality, equitable and efficient care is a must for nurses to improve the
cultural sensitivity and patient-centeredness of their treatment procedures.
