The aim was to define the digital technology field to support informal and formal health care that has been studied by way of acceptance efficiency, effectiveness, and acceptance (AEE) as well as to demonstrate the range of the methods used and settings for target, areas of support, and groups.


Methods

A comprehensive literature search was carried out by using Medline, Scopus, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore as well as the Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies, GeroLit, and CareLit. Furthermore, the project websites were screened manually for
relevant articles.

Results

Seven hundred and fifteen articles were reviewed within the study. Studies on effectiveness have been the most commonly conducted for ICT robots, sensors, and robotics. Acceptance studies usually focus on ICT as well as robots, and EHR/EMR. Studies on efficiency were typically scarce. A majority of studies were found to be lacking evidence. Experiments with small numbers and no controlled groups are the most popular ways to test the acceptance and effectiveness. Designs that have high evidence levels were commonly utilized for ICT robots, e-learning, and robotics. Technologies that were evaluated for children and informal caregivers or deemed appropriate for the formal home care of children or for cross-sect oral care were uncommon.

We suggest producing high-quality assessments of the existing NUR252 Digital Technology in Health Care Assignments in real-world situations, not systematic reviews based on poor-quality studies. A greater emphasis should be put on research on effectiveness. Future research needs to be devoted to a deeper investigation of the AEE evaluation techniques. The government should allocate funds to support large-scale, long-term assessments of technologies used that are used in the care process and fill in the gaps in research for the technologies, setting, and target groups identified by this review.
